[Character name] Simon Lewis
[Age] 17
[Canon] The Mortal Instruments
[Point in time taken from canon] Before the confrontation with Lilith; after Maureen’s death

[Background]
Tada~!

[Personality]

Simon is your typical boy next door. He’s sweet, kind, gentle, and a bit nerdy. Scratch that: really nerdy. He plays Dungeons and Dragons, has his own band (which really isn’t that good at all and can never keep a Band Name longer than a day), and tends to spout out random, obscure references to games and movies all the time. Deep down though, he’s a great guy.

Simon is all-around kind, despite his unusual sense of sarcasm and humor. He tends to speak before he thinks, and doesn’t really have a filter when it comes to social situations. He’s a bit awkward around other people, and oblivious to many social cues. But that doesn’t mean he’s any less of a person. He’s stubbornly loyal, funny, and determined. Ever since his adventures with Clary and the ShadowHunter gang has begun, however, he’s become much more outgoing and “grown into his skin” so to speak. He’s learned to deal with and handle other people better, which is a real necessity nowadays, considering the types of people he deals with on a daily basis.

Ever since he was Turned one fateful night, he has grown to be more attractive, and consequently, more appealing to the ladies. Of course, considering he only dated a few girls before Clary as “practice”, and only dated his best friend once, he really knows nothing about the opposite sex. Absolutely nothing. Which is why he ended up dating both the gorgeous Isabelle and Loveable Maia at the same time. His excuse was that he wasn’t sure either of them were “exclusive” with one another (they had never brought it up!), and because he didn’t want to hurt their feelings. It sounds like a cop-out excuse, but Simon is a genuinely nice guy who isn’t looking to crush hearts or be a sleezeball. Although he could have handled the situation with more grace and decided on one girl, he wasn’t looking to hurt anyone.

Still, a big part of Simon is Clary, the first girl he “fell in love with”.

Although things did not work out between them (blame Jace and his own fantasies), he remains a loyal friend through and through. He’s a shoulder to lean on and a support for her. He’s ready to get up in the middle of the night to play Knight and save her whenever she needs saving. He’s unshakably devoted and the type of friend a person would die for. In addition, he’s always there to try and brighten a situation with a laugh or two, and tries to see the bright side of things. After all, what other guy can relate finding out about Shadowhunters and Downworlders to Dungeons and Dragons?

Still, he doesn’t seem to get along with people who try to take away the most important thing in his life. Oh, and he doesn’t like being talked down to, either. He knows he isn’t all that great, but that doesn’t mean he’s deserving of ridicule. He doesn’t like to be called “Daylighter” or “Vampire”, and would prefer “Simon”, thank you. In fact, becoming a vampire wasn’t his choice. He wishes it had never happened, and hates how complicated his life has become. Living forever sounds nice, but he hates the idea of growing old and those he cares the most about dying before his eyes. Having to lie to his mother why he isn’t eating and why he has vials of blood is bad enough, but having been confronted about them and called a “monster” and “mentally ill” isn’t cool either. And that urge for human blood isn’t too fun, either. Especially after what happened with Maureen (to which he still feels guilty for). In all, his life is a confusing mess as a vampire, but he still keeps a strong front. Even though he keeps getting blindsided by wrinkly vampires and demons, he’s got his head up, and his wit on.

And he’s willing, always, to protect the ones he loves.

[Abilities]
Simon has a few powers as a Turned vampire. For one, ever since he drank the blood of Jace, he’s been what is referred to as a “DayLighter”. That is, he can walk in the daylight without any negative effects. A huge step for any vampire! Along with said vampire skills comes agility, and all that mumbo jumbo. Thanks to Clary, though, he has a rune upon his forehead (affectionately dubbed the mark of Cain). Said mark protects him from danger. No really, if anyone tries to directly harm him, they are destroyed on the spot. Naturally, this ability wouldn’t work in Somarium, but the Rune will still look nifty behind his long bangs.

[Other important stuff]
-He used to be a vegetarian before this
-He has a sister and mother (father is dead)
-His 'Sire' is Raphael

[Sample post]
[First Person]
[ There’s a thrumming in his ear, and it definitely isn’t the sound of drums from his band that was playing the other night at the club. No, this thrumming is different. It’s like the sound of coming home. Or rather, coming home in a strange, strange sense. Then again, what is home anymore, after living in an apartment with a werewolf (who didn’t tell him about that small fact, really!).

A groan. And a lifting of his head. ]
Ugh… [ And just about to cuss with the name of God, but as usual, a choking noise ensuing over such. Nope, still can’t say that, not even here. Bummer. ]

They couldn’t have gotten me, not with this destructive thing on my head… then where… [ Trailing off, trailing off, and why yes, his eyes are widening. ]

No way…. [ Yes, yes Simon, it is Somarium, welcome back. ] This again? Didn’t they catch the newsflash that I hate replaying games after the first run? Sheesh…..

Thank you. On behalf of myself, thank you Somarium, for having the worst time ever to drag me away from them. I couldn’t have planned it better myself!....

[ A sigh of defeat and he gets to his feet. A look of worry is across his features, and if he hadn’t been here before, hadn’t known that time stops when you’re here, and that Clary and everyone is fine, then he probably would be having a slight freak-out ]

Hope Magnus is still here – and hasn’t run out of vials. That’d suck. …. No pun intended, hah.

[ However, the thought of blood makes his wrench. That girl. That poor girl he should have saved. Maureen… the look on her young face when he launched forth, when he drank. He nearly doubles forward ]

Get a hold of yourself. Concentrate… [ Easier said than done ]

[Third Person]

There was a secret longing in his eyes as he stood in the cafe, being harassed by some red-haired chick who had it all wrong!– something he’d done with Clary once or twice, he was certain of it (the eat at a café at a strange hour, thing, of course, not be cussed out by a hot stranger). The good old days, when he’d just sit around with his DS while Clary texted, or read, and they’d talk for hours. Not about too much, but enough. Because that’s what best friends did, right? Best friends, always.

Of course, that was until Mister Hot-Shot walked into that club that night, whisked her off her feet, and launched them all head first into the “adventure” of a lifetime. How time flew when you were immortal.

The fact he didn’t remember being here was odd. The fact he didn’t remember the friends he had made when he was back in New York, fighting crime and getting “seduced” to the “dark side” by Camille herself, was a bit alarming.

You know, if I didn’t care, just slightly, I’d kind of be amused at how frantic Jace and Ky- … Jordan must be right now. Number One Most Wanted is missing, and now they don’t have anything to protect. A shrug, but then a pause. And of course, that doesn’t matter, because they won’t remember I’m gone, anyway.” And he’d return, not remembering this either, probably, and all would be fine.

And the present caught up with him again.

“Listen, listen….while I appreciate what you’re trying to do here…. I can assure you, I didn’t take your money! I hate crooks just as much as you do, I’m positive, but really…!”

Clearly that wasn’t enough, for after he finished his statement, he was whacked upside the head with a broom. When the hell did the fiery redhead get THAT? And how did she hit him? Shouldn’t that broom have gone boom-boom and disappeared because he was being harmed?

“Can we make a deal – Hey, stop that!” His arms flew up to try and stop the shopkeeper from attacking him further. “You know, you seem like a nice person and I’d like to get to know you, but hitting me with that – “ Dodge, “T-that is getting us nowhere!”

“Give me back my money you son of a - !”

He’d much rather be dealing with the rage of both Isabelle and Maia combined, really. As sad as that sounded. Females… (at least he knew how to deal with those two).

Without warning, he reached out quickly and grabbed the broom, snapping it in half with ease. Hurrah for vampiric powers?

“…sorry. You probably needed that…” Simon laughed awkwardly as the woman’s eyes filled with burning rage. “I’m just… going to leave that way. Here, you take this…” And he handed her the broken broom awkwardly, “and I’ll be going. Hope you find your real crook, have a nice day, and all that jazz…”

And he began slowly backing up, slowly…

And ran. At full speed.

You’d think dealing with two angry girlfriends would have prepared him for that?

Of course not.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Because I miss my amazing cast and the CR I had with others outside them~!
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] No playercest, as always. Because that’s never fun.
